Jarrac & Georgia's Wedding at Old Woodhouse Manor

"Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars..."

Georgia and Jarrac were married in a beautiful ceremony in the courtyard of Old Woodhouse Manor. Music was an important part of their ceremony and their song choices reflected their eclectic tastes. Georgia entered the ceremony to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - a sentimental classic. During the registry signing, they chose two songs written by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder: "Just Breathe" (from Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" LP) and "Hard Sun" (from the "Into the Wild" movie soundtrack). Their recessional song was "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root.

We enjoy hearing couple's song choices and getting a window into their musical tastes and relationship. If you're planning a wedding of your own, we're always available for song selection advice.

Following the Wedding ceremony, guests moseyed around the corner to the stunningly appointed veranda and back yard which was set with long tables and delicious tasting platters. Our task was to gracefully soundtrack the late-afternoon period, finding a balance of interest without intrusion. In moments like these we lean towards soulful music - usually incorporating elements of jazz, soul, and anything else that catches your ear without being invasive. Instrumental tracks often work really well, or songs where the vocals are more of a mellow, rather than 'shout-y' vibe. Here's some of the music we chose for Georgia and Jarrac:

"Come Together" by George Benson

"Brown Sugar" by D'Angelo

"Back Down Memory Lane" by Minnie Riperton

"Miss You" by The Dynamics

"Sun Goddess" by Ramsey Lewis

It's fair to say that all in attendance were very privileged to witness an outstanding live vocal, courtesy of Georgia's brother Nick. Wow. That guy can sing! Not only were Nick's vocals on par with 'Ol Blue Eyes himself, having a family member perform the wedding dance song was deeply touching. Georgia and Jarrac moved gracefully around the dancefloor while the first stars appeared overhead and fairy lights added an extra sparkle. It really was a perfect moment.

Dance-floor Highlights

Georgia and Jarrac's guests joined them on the dance floor for the last verse of their wedding dance. The mood in the air was one of old-time romance, so we stayed in that lane with a few romantic tunes e.g. "I Love You Baby" by Franki Valli and "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. From there, we played the next 3 hours with a range of moods and tempos to keep the music engaging and eclectic. These tracks were some of the crowd pleasers:

"Let's Dance" by David Bowie

"Valerie" by Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse

"Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" by Spiller

"Can't Stop the Feeling" by Justin Timberlake

"Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna
